What is a carer?
A carer is someone who provides unpaid emotional, psychological, or practical support to a family member or friend living with an illness or disability.
Many people don’t identify as carers—they see themselves as a wife, husband, partner, parent, son, daughter, sibling, or friend But if you provide regular support to someone close to you, you are a carer. Recognising this role is often a significant step, as it may involve helping with everyday tasks, offering emotional comfort, and coordinating medical care.
