More than 80% of people with Motor Neurone Disease will experience speech loss or difficulty speaking and become reliant on other ways of communicating. When living with MND, you can't choose, and you might be robbed of your ability to speak.

So, we're encouraging you to mute yourself during Speech Pathology Week (25-31 August) to support Queenslanders living with MND because you can speak volumes without using your voice. Challenge yourself to not speak for 2, 6, 12, or even 24 hours!

How it works:
  • Hit the FUNDRAISE button (top of the page)— create your MUTE ME fundraising page.
  • Choose how long you'll be muted— Speak volumes by challenging yourself not to speak for a time period you choose. Get others involved by sharing your story and what you're doing. Maybe your workplace, school or other community group might want to mute themselves, too.
  • Speak without your voice—share your fundraising page, photos of you muting yourself, or how you are choosing to communicate instead for the time period you've set yourself. Get others involved and encourage them to give to not hear you speaking.

If you're after further information about how to set your challenge or get your workplace or school involved, please contact events@mndaq.org.au or call us on 07 3372 9004.
