Manual Handling Training for Carers – 19 January 2024
MND Queensland is a leading organisation wholly focused on supporting people living with MND – and their families, friends, and carers. MND Queensland offers understanding and practical assistance by delivering information, education and specialist support services.
We're offering free Manual Handling training for informal carers.
Are you interested in empowering yourself with knowledge and skills to ensure you protect yourself and your loved one from injury? Correct manual handling is essential to safely move or support someone who may have difficulty with moving due to their MND.
The training will begin with basic theory followed by a practical session that will cover ways to assist with positioning in bed and chairs, sitting to standing, walking, assisting on stairs, pushing a wheelchair, and loading a wheelchair in and out of a vehicle. The training will be delivered by MND Queensland’s Physiotherapist, Bronwyn Makris. It is a unique opportunity to learn and practice skills to safely undertake manual handling tasks to reduce the risks of injury.
